Medical Research Council Planning Application

See the full planning application by the Medical Research Council for the Replacement LMB Building. This application is within the site boundary of the wider outline application.

Cambridgeshire Guided Bus

The Cambridge Biomedical Campus will be well connected and integrated with the surrounding area.  Accessibility by public transport to the existing campus is frequent (over 60 buses an hour arrive and depart from the campus).  The proposed availability of the Cambridgeshire Guided Bus system in 2009 will reinforce the high quality of public transport systems already available.

The Cambridgeshire Guided Bus is being promoted by Cambridgeshire County Council and has planning permission.  The route of the guided bus will run from Huntingdon to St. Ives, through Cambridge, to Addenbrooke's Hospital and the proposed CBC development and to Trumpington Park & Ride.

Addenbrooke's Access Road

The new Addenbrooke's Access Road will provide the main access into the new Cambridge Biomedical Campus from the south. The road is due to be completed in 2009.

This new access-only road from Hauxton Road in Trumpington to Addenbrooke's Hospital and the proposed CBC development has been granted conditional planning permission.

Clay Farm, Cambridge

In May 2008 planning permission was granted for residential development on land at Clay Farm, Cambridge, subject to a Section 106 Agreement. The development at Clay Farm will provide up to 2,300 new homes and community, retail, healthcare and educational facilities including a new primary and secondary school and access to 120 aces of parkland. The Clay Farm site is located just to the south of the City Centre between the village of Trumpington and the Addenbroke's Hospital Campus.

A major aim of the Clay Farm development is to bring into public use the vast amount of green space between Hobson's Brook and the railway line providing an important green corridor between the existing countryside and the city. The green corridor will provide essential public open space and is anticipated to include formal and informal recreational areas.

The Forum

Additional clinical and research building capacity alone will be insufficient to realise the full potential of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and it is recognised that additional infrastructure will also be needed to promote the interaction between clinical and research staff and to encourage dissemination of new clinical protocols and research findings. In order to facilitate these aims, the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has submitted a separate planning application for the construction of a central conferencing, seminar, teaching and hotel facility on the existing campus. This development is known as The Forum and will be developed alongside the Cambridge Biomedical Campus expansion.
